Category Manager – Retail 

Job Purpose:  
Achieving all KPIs and targets as directed by the head office  
responsible for pricing, branding and promotion of that product  
group with the goal to optimize sales  
Develop a commercial mindset as well as understanding  
consumers& wants and needs  
Ensuring company product categories along with displays are  
optimized for sales and marketing  
Producing, adapting, and advising on display and current  
marketing materials as needed.  
Planning and implementing planograms for shelf displays  
   
Duties & Responsibilities  
Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends  
Devise long-term development strategies for product categories  
Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products  
Foster trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services  
Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility  
Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category  
Collaborate with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categories  
Coordinate forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory  
Assume responsibility for budget development and revenue for the category  
Skills & Competencies:  
An excellent grasp of spatial, design, and promotional planning.  
Up to date with the latest category management principles.  
Proficient at evaluating current business retail practices.  
Ability to write well and generate reports on market activity.  
Possess great negotiation and interpersonal skills.  
Ability to think from a consumer perspective and understand  
buying behaviour.  
Analytical, creative, and goal-driven thinking.

Qualifications  
Member CIM, SLIM or Degree in marketing  
5 + years’ experience retail marketing
